Key Responsibilities of the Development Standing Committee
The primary responsibilities of the Development Standing Committee of the Grama Panchayat are to ensure the effective planning, supervision and implementation of development activities.

Development Planning and Project Formulation
- Plan projects necessary for the overall development of the Grama Panchayat.
- Formulate programmes aimed at socio-economic growth and prepare development plans that take the area's geographical characteristics into account.
- Prepare the Panchayat's annual development plans, present them before the Gram Sabhas and obtain approval.

Supervision of Major Development Sectors
The committee supervises activities in the Panchayat's key development sectors, including:
🌾 Agriculture: Farming, seed distribution, fertilisers and irrigation.
🐄 Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development.
🌱 Environment: Soil conservation and social forestry.
💧 Irrigation and Fisheries.
🏭 Industry: Promotion of small-scale industries.
🏗️ Infrastructure: Public works and housing construction.

Energy and Infrastructure
- Ensure village electrification, the use of non-conventional energy sources, and the installation and maintenance of streetlights.

- Ensure that all projects under the committee are completed efficiently and within the stipulated time.
- Assess project progress and make corrections wherever necessary.
- Coordinate activities in accordance with the recommendations of working groups and Gram Sabhas.
